How We Rate

We have decided to use our own and very simple rating system for our posts, so that it is easy for you to grasp the core message of our article and also to be able to filter easily by it. We use four rating categories, which we explain briefly here. We go from bad to good:

BELOW EXPECTATIONS (significantly below standard)

This is our lowest rating category, which we really only use in the rarest of cases. In order to get this rating, we believe there must be significant deficiencies in almost all areas, which we will outline in the article. We know that we have relatively high standards and we can understand that some people are already satisfied even if we are not, but in this category we assume that the shortcomings are so significant that we can not recommend anyone to visit. It should be said that each of our evaluation is, of course, based only on our visit time and defects have been fixed. If we are informed about that from a trusted source, we will publish that here as well.

ACCEPTABLE (below 100%)

Places that receive this rating from us may very well provide a satisfactory experience for you - it just depends on what your needs are at the time of your visit. It may be that an aspect could be improved according to our standards, but this may not concern you because you do not plan to experience this particular aspect. Or the overall package was not outstanding, but we could not find any shortcomings that make an overnight stay impossible. We will go into details in the article.

RECOMMENDED (100%)

When we award a house with the RECOMMENDED seal everything was fine during our stay, the hotel scored 100% and we can recommend this place to you with a clear conscience. All areas functioned as one would expect from a hotel of the respective category and if something did go wrong, we were able to ensure that it was an exception in that case. In particular, the handling of possible mistakes plays a big role in achieving this rating. This is usually the highest rating we give to a hotel that meets all the requirements.

EXCEEDED (above 100%)

In very rare cases we award the EXCEEDED seal. This happens exclusively when a hotel noticeably exceeds expectations in several areas. Our on-site experience was so good that we would definitely recommend you to experience it for yourself. We assume that the exceeding of expectations was not an exception and can be experienced by every customer.

Obviously, our rating is based only on our visit to the hotel in question. If we learn of any changes after our visit, we'll add that information to the article as a note for you.

As frequent travelers, we are very aware of cultural differences and the consequent differences in the standards of the respective country. We are also very aware that as Europeans we assume a very high standard, which can neither be offered nor expected everywhere. Nevertheless, we have deliberately chosen to portray our observations in relation to our European expectations for our posts - in particular because we can thus provide less experienced travelers with a clearer picture. However, we always try to classify the hotel also in relation to the country standard in the post.
